I am a freelance English-language multimedia editor with 18 years of experience. I edit news and features, TV and audio scripts, video captions and subtitles, specialising in French and European news for an international audience. I also specialise in working with translated copy (both human and AI translations) and copy written by non-native speakers.
I translate and adapt stories for an English-speaking audience, and recently delivered a series of workshops on this to the adaptation team at Swiss Info.
I'm currently working on a freelance basis for Radio France Internationale (RFI), France’s international public service broadcaster.
Other recent projects include working as a story editor at Swiss Info, two years as the script editor for the English edition of ARTE's Europe Weekly news programme, a second stint as the English editor on ARTE's annual European Collection documentary project, editing and translating copy for French art and culture magazine Revue, and working as an editor and translator for The Africa Report (Jeune Afrique).
I have also worked on translation, transcription, script editing and subtitling for various documentary film projects and podcasts.
I've held staff jobs at Le Monde, ARTE and Euronews, and before moving to France I worked as an online journalist, a sub-editor, a feature writer and a deputy magazine editor for newspapers, magazines and websites including The Scotsman and Scotsman.com, Scotland on Sunday, The Herald and Heraldscotland.com, The Independent, The Sunday Herald and The Daily Record.
I have an MA in French Studies from the University of Aberdeen and I'm from Edinburgh (via Muscat and Brussels) and now live in Paris (via Glasgow and Lyon).
